SECRETARY’S MESSAGE

January 1, 2012

Dear OX5 Members:

I am pleased to inform you that operational functions are well stabilized and that we have a good, accurate contact with the membership.  We are trying to use the eMail process as much as possible to keep our postage costs under control.  Our data base is accurate and working well, as is our member dues records.

As yet, the location and date for the 2012 reunion has not been selected but will be done during the ensuing month.  As a final request I am asking that any Wing that is interested in hosting the reunion submit a proposal as soon as possible.

I urge all members to view the new web site in order to see the amount of information about our organization that is now available.  If you have information that you would like to have posted, contact President Yerkey who is the site webmaster.

During the past year we have had to record the passing of a large number of our members, but, we also recorded a matching number of new members.  Working with the Wings has regenerated some interest that has resulted in new memberships.  I urge all Wings to actively engage in member recruiting activities.

I have advised Wings, and reassert here, that the National Office is in a position to assist Wings with recruiting efforts.  I had a lengthy discussion about National-Wing relationships at the Wing President’s meeting.

The things that we have instituted, or re-instituted, during the past year are such items as contact with Wings or individual members;  new permanent membership cards;  member-ship certificates for new members;  providing Wings with recruiting materials such as mailing labels, letters, advertising ads, etc.;  financial support for those Wings engaged in aviation activities such as Sun ‘n Fun, Air Venture and air shows;  the ox5.org web site and the printing of informational brochures about OX5 that can be used by Wings for recruiting purposes.

I want to extend my thanks to all members and friends who have supported the organization with their memberships, donations, and in kind support.
